The Interim Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (I-PRSP) was intended to act as a roadmap for the preparation of the full PRSP. The draft I-PRSP was presented to co-operating partners at the Consultative Group Meetings in May, 2001, where it met with a positive response. The production of a I-PRSP was a condition for Malawi to reach the Decision Point of the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative Debt Relief scheme. As such, the final I-PRSP was presented to the Boards of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) for approval in December 2001.
